The gaming world has been holding its breath for years, eagerly waiting for any sign of Half-Life 3. Rumors have surfaced here and there, but we’ve never seen anything significant. However, while Valve has remained extremely silent about the franchise’s future, a recent rumor, which carries more weight than the ones we’ve seen before, has sent shockwaves through the community.
New Half-Life 3 rumor appears
The new wave of speculations comes from a voice actor, Natasha Chandel, who mentioned working on a Valve project codenamed “Project White Sands” on her website. For those who don’t know, “White Sands” is a real US military base in New Mexico, the very place where Black Mesa is located.

Tyler McVicker, who is a well-known Half-Life and Valve data miner, also backed up the leak and claimed that Valve is working on a new Half-Life game under the codename ‘HLX.’ He added the game in development is not a VR project like Alyx and shares many elements with the Half-Life series.
While it’s essential to approach such rumors with caution, the timing couldn’t be more perfect. This is because Valve has shown renewed interest in single-player games with Half-Life: Alyx, which was released back in 2020. Maybe they are now planning to move forward with Project White Sands, which could be the next installment in the critically acclaimed Half-Life series.
Of course, there’s also the possibility that Project White Sands is an entirely different game. Valve has a history of surprising fans with unexpected projects. However, most fans are hoping that it turns out to be Half-Life 3, as it’s been more than 20 years since the second part was released.
