As video games these days are expensive, gamers are always looking forward to sales events so they can grab a bunch of titles at discounted prices. However, if you’re a Steam Deck user and want to try some new games on your handheld, you’ll be pleased to know that there is currently a bucket load of games you can get for free right now. The long list of games is sourced from different platforms such as Steam, Epic Games, and GOG.
Steam Deck games that are available for free right now
At the time of writing, there are around 32 Steam Deck-compatible games that are available for free. However, while a few can be directly claimed from Steam or Epic Games Store, the majority of them require you to have an active Amazon Prime subscription. Amazon, however, does offer a free 30-day trial for their service, so you can use that (if available) to grab these games. Yes, Prime Day is over, but the offers haven’t stopped yet.
Also, keep in mind that the games you claim through Steam can be played on the Steam Deck without any issues. But for games that are available through Epic Games Store and Amazon Prime, you’ll need a third-party tool like Heroic.

For those who don’t know, if a game is listed as Verified, it means it runs well on the Steam Deck without any tweaks. On the other hand, if it is Playable, then you may need to adjust some settings to optimize its performance. You’ll also come across some ‘Unsupported’ or ‘Unknown’ games, but most of them run fine on the handheld. After all, the Steam Deck verification system isn’t always perfect.
In any case, if you want to explore more games, you can check out the Bethesda bundle or the RPG bundle from Fanatical. While these bundles don’t feature any free games, they still offer a massive discount on several titles.
