One of the most popular gaming handhelds, the Nintendo Switch, is finally getting an upgrade, in the form of the Nintendo Switch 2. While it hasn't been released yet, it'll hit the shelves on June 5th, 2025. It has a price tag of $449.99 and has been available for pre-order for a while now. That being said, there was concern among the community, whether the titles on the Nintendo Switch would seamlessly port over to the Switch 2.

The answer is yes and no. Some titles are compatible, and some that aren't, but Nintendo is working to work out these issues by launch or shortly after, though many games are still being investigated to bring them up to speed.

List of Nintendo Switch games to be addressed as a priority

Nintendo provided full clarity on which games they'll be focusing on, “planned to be addressed by launch or shortly after,” and here is the complete list. All of these titles and their respective issues will be resolved via an update.

Besides this list, there are titles that are compatible with the Switch 2, but you won't be able to play them unless you have a Joy-Con from the Nintendo Switch and connect it wirelessly to the Switch 2. These titles include the following:

  • Ring Fit Adventure
  • 1-2-Switch™
  • Everybody 1-2-Switch™
  • Game Builder Garage™
  • Nintendo Switch™ Sports
  • WarioWare™: Move It!
  • Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 01: Variety Kit
  • Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 02: Robot Kit
  • Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 03: Vehicle Kit

So, if you were planning on getting the Switch 2, it would be good to manage your expectations if you were hoping to play any of these titles. Many other games need to be ironed out for the Switch 2, and you can find all of them on the Nintendo website. However, according to the last update, which was on May 27th, 122 Nintendo and over 15,000 partner games work with the Switch 2, so incompatibilie titles make up a very small percentage.
