The massive Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 update arrived back in September last year, bringing official modding support for all. Since then, we’ve seen a growing number of fantastic mods. Earlier this week, we got to interview the developers behind Path To Menzoberranzan, an upcoming custom campaign that is set to be the largest to date. In fact, the team is soon taking auditions for a voice role in the campaign.

Well, not every mod has to be as ambitious as that. The great thing about modding is that everything – large or small – can make a noteworthy difference to your Baldur’s Gate experience. That’s where the ‘Loot Master’ mod comes in, a great little tool if you want to speed up the process of looting for gear.

Try out the Loot Master mod before Patch 8 comes along

To put it simply, the Loot Master mod (available to download free on mod.io) is all about automated looting. The mod allows you to use a few new spells which all have an 18ft cast radius. These spells are as follows:

  • Loot Corpses: Loots all corpses except allies.
  • Loot Containers: Loots all non-empty containers.
  • Loot All: Loots both corpses and containers.
  • Remove Mod: Uninstalls the mod.

Although developer Larian has already revealed that Baldur’s Gate 3 is no longer its main priority – Patch 8 will be the last “major” patch for the game – we don’t expect BG3 to be going anywhere. The loving support for mods will only help longevity and dedicated fans aiming big with custom campaigns and new ways to play will keep the community going.

The Patch 8 stress test went live a few days ago; the full release time has not yet been made official. While new content and updates are welcomed, it does come with the side effect that mods are often broken. This is typically the case if Larian has changed a mechanic or game feature that directly affects the mod’s own features. Usually, it requires an update from the mod maker to ensure compatibility is fixed, but this is not always a guarantee.

Players have been worrying about mods breaking, but we won’t know what exactly is affected until Patch 8 arrives. Who knows, Loot Master may be spared in the new update.
