In an effort to fix bugs that malware such as Pegasus Spyware manipulated, Apple has today released iOS 12.5.5 alongside updating macOS Catalina. In an effort to strengthen their various operating systems, Apple has been (kind of) quick to act on security vulnerabilities on all of their current and more recent legacy devices.
iOS 12.5.5 – Why Now?
As described by Apple on the security patch release notes, CoreGraphics, WebKit and XNU have been updated to stop malicious .PDF files from exploiting holes in Apple's various operating systems.
