Crunchyroll is the home of export Anime in the west, providing fans with newly released subtitled content ahead of future English dubs. According to Down Detector, it seems that the Anime service is down for the count, looks like there’s been one too many Spirit Bombs for now.
Looking at the outage chart on Down Detector, it’s obvious there’s a major issue. Crunchyroll down reports started at around 2:45 PM GMT with a handful of reports, which is now escalating at a rapid rate with nearly 400 reported separate instances as can be seen in the image below:
We currently have no idea why Crunchyroll is down, but it’s most likely a server error that needs correcting rather than a malicious attempt. It looks like Crunchyroll down reports are starting to surface on Twitter too, although we are within the first half-hour of Crunchyroll down at the time of writing:
Crunchyroll going down comes just a day after the Anime exporters’ month-long focus on Black Voices in the Anime industry. They are spending all of Feburary, also known as Black History Month, highlighting the amazing Black creators, influencers, artists, and industry professionals behind the Anime community.
Crunchyroll is also announced that it will be donating to Concerned Black Men of Los Angeles, a non-profit that empowers the next generation of black youth through education and mentoring.
Readers can check out the first feature right here that focuses on the following people:
- Voice actor Dani Chambers
- Content creator Keatsdidit
- Cosplayer Evensya
- Musician GameboyJones
- Crunchyroll’s own Jasmine Downey,
- Berdcon’s Hilton George

We’ll keep this post updated as Crunchyroll down continues, we are still awaiting an official comment from Crunchyroll PR at the time of writing.
