Later today, we’ll see the launch of the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally handhelds – the new Ally and Ally X models are open to the public at Gamescom in Cologne this week. Be sure to tune in to the announcement today if you want all the official details, but until then, a last-minute price rumor suggests the ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X will be available for $549.99 and $899.99, respectively.

Previously, price leaks from an official partner in Spain placed the pricing at €599 and €899 in the region. If you were to convert this into USD, you’re looking at around $699 and $1,050 for the base and flagship X model, respectively. The new rumor represents a significant difference, so be sure to take it with a grain of salt for the time being.

ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X pricing cheaper than expected, says new rumor

According to well-known leaker billbil-kun, the ‘final prices’ of the new Xbox-branded handhelds for the U.S. have been confirmed. The same leaker has previously reported on the price of the new devices. Pre-orders are also rumored to kick off during Computex.

There’s not long to wait until these are officially announced – the Xbox showcase at Gamescom will be taking place today (August 20) at 9 AM Eastern Time / 3 PM CEST (local time). As such, we’ll be able to confirm or dismiss this rumor, but since it comes so close to the event, there’s a decent chance of it being more accurate than prior estimates.

Gamescom attendees with hands-on access to the new hardware also have the chance to play upcoming Hollow Knight: Silksong at the event, so there’s plenty to get hyped about this week. The new ROG Ally launch isn’t the only big launch happening today, either; on the other side of the Atlantic, Google is launching its new Pixel 10 series, which also got a last-minute price leak.
