Lenovo launched the Legion Go 2 back in September last year, and even at the time of launch, Lenovo was having to deal with some price criticism. It responded by calling it an “enthusiast” handheld and slapping on a minimum $1,099.99 price tag, or up to $1,479.99 in the case of the top Z2 Extreme, 32GB RAM, and 2TB SSD model. Most recently, the price has jumped even higher.

Consumers have noticed price hikes for the Legion Go 2 amid RAM and SSD storages which have plagued the industry for a few months. In fact, the handheld is currently nowhere to be seen on the official Lenovo store; the only related product is a Go 2 screen protector for $19.99. The first-gen handheld is still available, however.

Legion Go 2 price hikes in the UK

While the Ryzen Z2-powered remains a no-show at popular US retailers (including Best Buy and Amazon), Lenovo has actually been restocking the handheld in the UK. The bad news is that there’s a noticeable price hike for the devices, which originally cost you between £900 and £1,300. We did notice that Currys is still selling the Z2 non-extreme 512GB for £899, and it’s in stock at the time of writing, so don’t miss out on that if you’re in the market for one.

On the official Lenovo site, however, the newly-restocked models have been bumped up. The same model we just mentioned at Currys is now £1,049, while the top model is up to £1,500, an increase of £200. We cannot say if the same kind of price hike will happen over the pond in the US, but we wouldn’t be surprised – manufacturers continue to deal with depleted levels of memory and storage stock fueled by high demand from AI firms for data centers.

The poor availability of the latest Legion Go may have you turning to alternatives, but even the Steam Deck OLED is out of stock in the US right now, leaving handheld fans with much less choice. American customers can still grab the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X for their respective launch prices, $599.99 and $999.99; both are also powered by Ryzen Z2 hardware.

We’re closing in on the launch of a SteamOS version of the Legion Go 2, which will be available later this year in June. That being said, the current shortages and price hikes may disrupt the launch if things aren’t back to normal by then (we don’t expect them to be). The SteamOS version has been announced with a starting price of $1,199.
