Table of Contents
Lenovo has now launched the Legion Go 2 – officially called the Legion Go Gen 2. Even ahead of the launch, a comprehensive leak pretty much told us all we need to know, aside from the price and exact release date. Well, now we know exactly how much the new handheld costs, and it’s coming in October. IFA Berlin 2025 played host to Lenovo Innovation World, giving us our first glimpse of the device, which was soon followed up by the full launch.
The new handheld is similar to the previous model in some of its basic design, with the same screen size and refresh rate, but a new OLED panel (which we’re quite excited about), albeit with a lower resolution. However, we’re getting upgraded core specs in terms of the processor, integrated graphics, and maximum storage and RAM capacity. There are also two different models available – Ryzen Z2 and Ryzen Z2 Extreme variants.

Is the Legion Go 2 available to pre order?
Yes, just like the original Legion Go back in 2023, pre orders are available for the new Gen 2 model well in advance of general availability. The handheld was unveiled at the IFA Berlin 2025 conference early in the day on September 5th, with pre orders going live immediately. Best Buy is one of the first retailers to sell the Legion Go 2, including both the Z2 and Z2 Extreme models. The release date is listed for October 31.

How much does the Legion Go 2 cost?
Ahead of the launch, there were rumors that the Legion Go 2 could be up to $200 more expensive than the expected ROG Xbox Ally X, which comes out on October 16, tipping the price over the $1,000 mark. Well, as you can see from the Best Buy listings above, the Z2 model retails from $1,099.99, and the Z2 Extreme from $1,349.99.
Tariffs and trade disputes have already pushed up prices for competitors like the ROG Ally – ASUS & Microsoft are still undecided on the pricing of the new Xbox-branded models.
Looking back at the first-generation model, the entry-level configuration with 256GB of storage and a Ryzen Z1 chip debuted at $599, while the next version up featuring the more powerful Z1 Extreme and 512GB capacity sold for $699. Lenovo also offered a top-tier 1TB option with the Z1 Extreme, listed at $749.99. So, the second generation represents a substantial price hike.
