The Lenovo Legion Go was released back in October 2023 and quickly became one of the most popular handhelds on the market. At CES 2025, Lenovo revealed its successor, the Legion Go 2. They showcased a prototype and shared some specifications, which are not final yet, but still give us a good idea of what to expect. In the meantime, they released the Legion Go S with Windows and SteamOS models now available.

Since CES, however, Lenovo has remained pretty quiet about the Legion Go 2. They haven't provided any official updates or made any further announcements. The only confirmation so far is that the handheld will launch sometime later this year (a new development says September). In any case, we'll go over everything we know so far about Lenovo's upcoming handheld, including its expected specifications, release date, and price.

Lenovo Legion Go 2 release date window

At CES 2025, where Lenovo showcased a prototype of the upcoming handheld, the company confirmed that the Legion Go 2 will be available by the end of the year. They didn't reveal any additional details like the exact release date or month, and have remained silent since. However, a recent interaction on social media may have revealed the possible release month.

On the Lenovo Latin America Facebook page, a fan asked when the Legion Go 2 would be released in Mexico. In response, a representative suggested a possible September release. Although the question was specific to Mexico, it’s possible that Lenovo will release the handheld globally on the same day. If the company does plan to launch it in September, we can expect an official announcement soon.

Lenovo Legion Go 2 expected specifications

Lenovo also shared the specifications of the Legion Go 2 prototype at CES 2025. While these are prototype specs and may change in the final version, they still give a clear idea of what to expect.

Here are the Legion Go 2 specifications from Lenovo, along with the specifications of its predecessor for comparison:

As shown in the table above, the Lenovo Legion Go 2 will feature an 8.8″ display with a 1920 x 1200 resolution. While this is a downgrade from the previous model's resolution, it should help maximize battery life. The new handheld will also switch to an OLED panel instead of IPS, which should provide better visuals with deeper blacks and more vibrant colors. Aside from that, the aspect ratio and refresh rate remain the same.

The Legion Go 2 will be powered by AMD's Ryzen Z2 processor, which has a maximum boost frequency of 5.1 GHz. It comes with 8 cores, 16 threads, and 12 graphics cores. The new Z2 processors also promise better power efficiency and aim to fix battery life issues in handhelds. And with a larger 74Whr battery compared to the 49.2Whr battery in the original Legion Go, users can expect significantly much longer playtime.

Lenovo Legion Go 2 expected price

At the moment, Lenovo has not talked about what the price of the Legion Go 2 will be. However, the original Legion Go launched at $599 for the 256GB model with the Ryzen Z1, while the version with the Z1 Extreme and 512GB storage was priced at $699. A 1TB model with the Z1 Extreme was also available for $749.99.

We expect the Legion Go 2 to launch in a similar price range. However, prices may increase due to ongoing trade tensions and tariffs, which have already affected pricing for devices like the ROG Ally.
