IFA Berlin is kicking off later this week (September 5-9), and there are already plenty of signs pointing towards the launch of the Lenovo Legion Go 2. Most recently, some leaked promotional material confirmed a few of the key specifications and features of the upcoming PC gaming handheld. They generally match the prototype Lenovo unveiled during CES early this year, so the biggest revelation is the likelihood that we’re incredibly close to launch.

The recent leaked promo more or less confirmed the OLED screen, Z2 Extreme processor, and 8.8″ screen size, among other details. Now, the very same leaker has published further details, including the existence of a Z2 (non-Extreme) model. The new leak also confirms the 1200p resolution from the prototype; some recent reports wrongly suggested a 1600p screen.

Lenovo Legion Go 2 leaks confirm a bunch of specs

Leaker Evan Blass has dumped a large amount of promotional graphics for the Legion Go 2. We call it that, but the official name is not apparent. Lenovo might just call it the Z2 model – we don’t know yet. In any case, here’s everything we know about it so far based on the comprehensive leak.

SpecificationLenovo Legion Go 2 (leaked)
ProcessorRyzen Z2 / Ryzen Z2 Extreme
GraphicsRadeon 890M
Memory32GB RAM
Storage1TB PCIe SSD / up to 2TB MicroSD
Screen size8.8″
Resolution1920 x 1200 (16:10 aspect ratio)
Screen size8.8″
Refresh rate144Hz with VRR
Panel typeOLED (500 nits brightness, 97% DCI-P3 color gamut)
Battery size74Wh
Operating SystemWindows 11 / SteamOS (speculative)

We recommend you take a browse through all the market material in the leak post on X above. It confirms the handheld will enjoy a 144Hz OLED screen with VRR, placing it a step above the latest Xbox ROG Ally handhelds in the display department. They both have VRR, but the new Xbox-branded devices have a 120Hz refresh rate, lower 1080p resolution, and IPS panel – not OLED.

There’s also rumor of a SteamOS version, much like we saw with the Legion Go S. This might be the case based on one of the screenshots showing Steam seemingly running natively rather than in Big Picture mode like you’d get on Windows usually.

Given all the improvements, and the fact Lenovo retains the detachable controller design, you’ll have to decide whether the Legion Go 2 will be worth the extra cash. Although not official, a recent price rumor places the Legion Go 2 up to $200 more expensive than the Xbox ROG Ally X; both feature the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip.
