Users of the Lenovo Legion Go will soon be able to enjoy the benefits of a longer battery life, thanks to a mod that is starting to appear in some online stores.

Handheld gaming devices like the Steam Deck and ASUS ROG Ally are fantastic for playing games on the go. However, many games can be very demanding on battery life. A few months back, users of the original ASUS ROG Ally rejoiced when an extended life battery mod became available, and now Legion Go users have a chance to try out the benefits, as long-life battery kits are starting to be sold in some online stores.

More than 50% capacity compared to the original

These new battery mods have a higher capacity, promising up to 50% higher capacity, using a 77.6Whr battery, quite a jump from the standard 49.2Whr available in the standard model. Interested users will need to brave AliExpress, since these mods are listed on both the EU and US stores.

The listing on Aliexpress promises an easy installation process that involves removing a plastic bracket from the Legion Go, then applying adhesive to the underside of the battery, plugging it in, and reinstalling the back cover.

A Reddit user called u/FRANC225 posted about the mod, along with plans to buy one and report on how well it works. Their battery has been ordered and is waiting for delivery, which could take as long as two weeks.

Another Reddit post specifies that the larger battery weighs around 250g, considerably more than the 180g of the original battery. This will make the device heavier, but it is still less awkward and cumbersome than attaching a power bank to the rear of the device.

Of course, installing new batteries always comes with a degree of risk, especially in devices that are as small and compact as the Legion Go. Some users will consider it worth it for an extra hour or two of game time. On the flip side, you may want to wait for a more ‘official’ or trustworthy upgrade kit, such as the one JSAUX recently put up for pre-order for the ROG Ally.
