“Seamless” ROG Ally battery upgrade finally goes up for pre order, shipping expected as soon as next week

ASUS joined the battle for the best handheld gaming PC with the original ROG Ally back in 2023, and while the device garnered plenty of fans, it always had a couple of weaknesses. Many of these were addressed with the upgraded ROG Ally X model, but if you’re still using the original, you probably know that its battery life isn’t the greatest.
With that in mind, we’ve seen plenty of people turn to battery upgrade mods, especially since modding is cheaper than buying an Ally X, making it an enticing option. You may remember that popular accessory company JSAUX is also developing its own version of the mod, which offers “50% more playtime” and advertises itself as an easy way of upgrading.

JSAUX Battery & Thermal Upgrade Kit for ROG Ally is available for pre-order
Last time we saw, this JSAUX battery & thermal upgrade kit was still listed as coming soon. Well, now it is available for pre-order, with shipping expected in early May. In contrast to some more make-shift upgrades we’ve seen people showing off online, the JSAUX solution offers “Seamless Compatibility” by upgrading the stock 40Wh battery to one with 65Wh capacity while providing a replacement backplate, so nothing looks out of order. It also offers improved thermals thanks to an extra aluminum sheet.
It’s worth noting that this isn’t quite as powerful as others we’ve seen, such as this 74Wh battery mod.
At the time of writing, the JSAUX kit is available for pre-order with a $79.99 price tag, while the list price of the kit is $89.99. We can only assume it will return to full price once the pre-order phase is over. No specific release date is given just yet, but expected early May shipping means you might be able to get one as early as next week.
