Lenovo announces new C700 handheld with cloud gaming in mind, set to launch next month
Table of Contents
Lenovo has already established itself as a major player in the handheld gaming market with devices such as the Lenovo Legion Go 2 and Legion Go S. These are perfect for gaming on the go, with easy access to PC games in a portable form factor. Now, Lenovo has just unveiled something a little different: a handheld focused primarily on cloud gaming.
The new device is called the Lenovo Legion C700, and Lenovo has officially teased its launch with the message “See you in August.” Based on the information shared, the C700 is being positioned as a cloud gaming handheld rather than a traditional handheld gaming PC. In other words, it is built around streaming games from the cloud rather than local performance.
What we know about the Lenovo Legion C700 so far
Early promotional images show the C700 with an Xbox-style asymmetrical control layout, featuring offset analog sticks and a design that resembles a modern game controller integrated into a handheld form. The back of the device also appears to include additional buttons and visible ventilation cutouts, suggesting that Lenovo is paying attention to both ergonomics and cooling.

One of the most notable details is that the C700 appears to be co-branded with Tencent’s START cloud gaming service. In this respect, the C700 could be compared to devices such as the Logitech G Cloud and the Abxylute handheld line.
At this stage, many important details remain unknown. Lenovo has not announced the price, chipset, battery capacity, or complete hardware specifications of the C700. It is also unclear whether the handheld will be available outside China or if it will remain focused on the Chinese market through its partnership with Tencent START cloud gaming. We’ll most likely get to see more details at the end of this month or in August.
