Huge external HDDs are a great static destination drive for important media, documents, or backups. And a decently sized one may be all you ever need. The WD 20TB Elements is one such option, with plenty of space. The best thing? External hard drives are relatively cheap, and this model is now more affordable than ever.
Thanks to an Amazon deal, you can get the WD 20TB Elements for $310. It’s $40 (12%) off the regular $350 price, which means a lot of storage for an initial investment. It’s a world away from SSD costs, but it means you can have a reliable external storage device for transferring data away from a PC or laptop.

Why we like the WD 20TB Elements
Huge storage
A 20TB external drive may be all you ever need, unless you use your PC or laptop for professional or heavy content or media use. Even so, 20TB is 20x the storage most gaming PCs come with as standard. While not ideal for running programs or apps from an external drive, the space offers plenty of backup potential.

Plug and Play
Thanks to its USB 3.0 drive connection, the WD 20TB Elements is considered plug-and-play. Compatible with Windows and macOS devices, you should be able to plug it in and start using it immediately. Users report it’s good for extra Xbox One and PS4 storage, too, but it’s best to check compatibility with consoles before you buy.
Reliable performance
As one of the top names in storage, WD drives are well-regarded for reliability. WD’s Elements range has more than 300,000 user reviews on Amazon, and maintains a 4.6 out of 5 stars rating, speaking to the reliability and usefulness of the drives. That being the case, the WD 20TB Elements should serve well.
What to consider before you buy
While external hard drives are useful for static storage away from a system, they’re not ideal for everyone. If you want more space for your PC, an SSD or internal HDD would be better. However, if you need occasional backup or media storage, or need space for a library of content, this 20TB WD Elements drive may fit the bill!
