MSI has established a reputation for supplying gaming-focused motherboards designed to bring out the best in CPUs. According to the latest post on social media, MSI has surpassed itself with the new MSI MEG X870E GODLIKE motherboard.
According to a post on Twitter/X, a combination of the brand-new AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D CPU and the MSI MEG X870E GODLIKE motherboard is capable of cranking the speed of the CPU right up to a scorching 7.2 GHz. At factory specs, the Ryzen 9950X3D has a Clock speed of 4.3 GHz or 5.7 GHz in Turbo mode.
MSI boasts 7.2GHz overclock on AMD’s new Ryzen 9 9950X3D
If the figures posted by MSI are accurate, that is a fairly significant performance boost. However, it does come with the usual caveats of overclocking, namely higher temperatures and more stress on the chips.
The AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D was released earlier this week on March 12th and is already a top choice for PC gaming enthusiasts thanks to its extra V-Cache, which boosts performance in games. Such a performance boost will only make it more attractive to consumers.
Replies on Twitter were generally enthusiastic, with user FiLNuX saying: “MSI is crushing it again with the 9950X3D & Godlike MoBo. X3D cache for hardcore gamers but with enough cores to crush workloads when we need it along with the MoBo that checks almost every box on anyone’s wishlist. Seeing a 16 core CPU @ 7261 MHz is just crazy.”
