Despite months of soaring prices and retailers showing ‘out-of-stock’ notifications for graphics cards, Micro Center stock lists reveal thousands of GPUs warming shelves. This has caused many to wonder if the GPU boom is finally at an end.

Ever since the RTX 50 series began to be launched earlier this year, customers have complained about a lack of stock and sky-high prices. At least one of these problems seems to have been solved, according to a Micro Center GPU stock list. However, this still leaves many questions unanswered.

The stock list was posted by the respected publication TechPowerUp. It detailed the level of stock for graphics cards in a large number of Micro Center locations in the USA. Somewhat surprisingly, the list included graphics cards from as far as two generations ago, like the RTX 3050 and RX 6600.

More Nvidia cards available than AMD

However, the vast majority of cards listed were Nvidia cards from the current generation. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 has the highest number listed next to it, with 4737 units available. Unfortunately, the stock listing does not specify if this refers to the 8GB version, the 16GB version, or a combination of both.

With the exception of the newly launched AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT, Nvidia cards have more available stock listed than AMD cards. The RTX 5090, for example, has 36-4 units listed, and the RTX 5060 Ti has 2399 units. The Radeon RX 7800 XT from the previous generation has only 725 units in stock, and the RX 7700 XT only 130. The RX 9070 has 1230, and the RX 9070 XT has 2761.

This does raise the question of why prices for graphics cards remain quite so high if stock is generally plentiful. Perhaps the demand is finally dying down, which could prompt retailers to begin offering discounts.
