AMD released the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT in March this year. Ever since these two GPUs were first announced, AMD fans and PC enthusiasts have been eagerly waiting for them to arrive. When they launched, they didn't disappoint, as both turned out to be solid mid-range options. Now that Nvidia has released the RTX 5060 Ti, and the regular 5060 is coming next month, AMD is also rumored to be working on a budget option in response: the RX 9060 XT.

Right now, AMD hasn't said much about the 9060 XT or confirmed that it exists, though it did mention that “RX 9060 products” will be coming in Q2 2025 at the tail end of the RX 9000 series reveal. But many leaks and rumors suggest the card is real and could be coming soon. Here’s everything we know so far, including the expected release date, leaked specs, and price estimates.

RX 9060 XT release date rumors so far

As AMD has not yet announced the card, there is no official release date. However, based on a rumor that comes directly from the Chiphell forum, the RX 9060 XT could be released in May. But according to Hoang Anh Phu on X, a reliable leaker, the 9060 XT could be announced at Computex 2025, and the launch could happen two weeks later, following the event.

For those who don’t know, Computex will kick off on May 20, which means that if the second rumor is true, the card could be released in the first week of June. The latest leak, however, does stick to a May release window, with the alleged June date being pushed forward.

There was speculation that AMD was waiting for Nvidia to release the 5060 Ti first. Now that the card is here, we can expect AMD to make an official announcement about its upcoming card soon, possibly to ensure it releases alongside the RTX 5060.

As reported by Videocardz, information obtained from Board Channels suggests AMD might be planning a launch as soon as May 18, 2025.

RX 9060 XT specs leaked online

Again, since AMD hasn't announced the RX 9060 XT yet, there are no official specs. But that's where leaks can step in. Just like before the RX 9070 series launch, the specs for the 9060 XT have also been leaked, and they suggest that the card will offer some decent improvements over the previous generation RDNA 3 cards.

You can check out the latest leaked specs of the 9060 XT below. We've also included the specs of two older cards, so you can see what kind of improvements the new card might bring.

VideoCardz also reported that the RX 9060 XT will need a minimum 500W power supply. However, some models might need 550W or more. We'll only know for sure once AMD officially announces the card and board partners share their requirements.

RX 9060 XT expected price

In the same thread on Chiphell where the release date was leaked, a user claimed that the RX 9060 XT will have two models – 8GB and 16GB, just like the recently released RTX 5060 Ti. According to the speculation, the 8GB version may be priced at $249, while the 16GB model may launch at $299.

For comparison, the RTX 5060, which is set to launch in May, will also cost $299 but will only offer 8GB of VRAM. On the other hand, Nvidia's 16GB RTX 5060 Ti is priced at $429. However, we’ll need to wait for the reviews of the expected RX 9060 XT 16GB to go live to see if it actually competes with the 5060 Ti or not.

Will there be an RX 9060 non-XT?

Based on the last generation, which gave us the RX 7600 and RX 7600 XT, it seems that AMD would yet again provide two new models, just like the 9070 series, and Nvidia’s own mid-range graphics cards so far this year. However, we have seen little mention of a non-XT card just yet, so there is some uncertainty regarding its existence.

In the 7000 series, the 7600 came with 8GB and the 7600 XT came with 16GB VRAM, though current speculation points towards the 9060 XT offering both these VRAM tiers. With that in mind, it’s entirely possible that there will not be a non-XT card, or at least not one which is ready to be unveiled this May.

Should I keep my RX 7600 XT or upgrade to the 9060 XT?

Generally speaking, especially in more recent generations of GPUs, upgrading to the next-gen equivalent graphics card doesn’t really offer you a massive benefit. Of course, you’ll have access to RDNA 4 architecture to unlock the potential of FSR 4, but we recommend waiting for benchmark tests to become available for comparing these two cards. We should learn more about synthetic and gaming benchmarks once AMD officially announces the 9060 series.
