One common roadblock for Oblivion Remastered fans is the lack of interesting light armor options, especially at low levels. In your first few levels, you're mostly stuck with the old, boring leather armor that just isn't cool or intimidating to enemies. Plus, since many NPCs wear the same armor, you end up looking just like them. Fortunately, where the game falls short, modders step in to fill the gap.

Since its launch, Oblivion Remastered has seen many quality of life mods, like Carry Weight Modifier, which boosts your carrying capacity, or the Full Map Unlocked mod. The Hide Armor mod is another great example that helps add another level of customization, albeit not a full transmog-style system you’ll find in many RPGs and MMOs. We hope that comes next.

For those that aren’t aware, transmog refers to a feature that lets you use certain gear as a cosmetic while applying the stats of another. We’ve already seen this in the original Oblivion, so we’d love to see someone working on one for the remaster.

Armor hiding made easy

Created by Dayng and available for download on NexusMods.io, this mod lets you hide different armor slots on your character while maintaining all the stats. That means if you don't want to see your body armor or other pieces, you can hide them without worrying about taking extra damage or losing defense.

To get the mod running, simply open the mod menu by holding the G key in-game, then select the armor pieces you want to hide by checking the boxes, and hit apply. Interestingly, the mod even lets you choose whether to auto-hide certain armor slots, like keeping your helmet always hidden, or toggle visibility with a button whenever you want.

The default toggle key is “G,” but you can change it to any valid keybind. This only works on keyboard because the mod currently does not support controllers, according to the creator. You can check out the mod page for a step-by-step installation guide and other details to get it running smoothly. The mod seems stable for most users, which is great, though the creator warns against using their other Hide Helmet Toggle mod at the same time, since the two mods may clash.
