“Overshadowed” Intel Arc B570 reviews highlight obvious downfall of newly released GPU

Intel’s second Battlemage GPU has gone live today, and while many early reviews are reflecting positively on Intel’s latest budget-friendly card, there are plenty highlighting some obvious problems.
Intel has finally completed the launch of its Battlemage GPU lineup, with the B570 hitting shelves in the US, UK, and Europe. The new budget-friendly GPU is receiving a mixed bag of feedback from the community, with review scores ranging from 2-4 out of 5.
While the majority of the early reviews seem positive, some are rightly highlighting the fact that the B570 is “overshadowed” by the more powerful B580. With pricing only separated by $30, Intel is running a real risk of making the card obsolete – especially if the B580 comes back in stock at MSRP.

That said, Gamer Nexus rightly points out in his review that the B570 is the cheapest GPU they’ve reviewed in years, highlighting just how cheap his option is. This means there will likely be plenty of interest from individuals building budget gaming PCs – especially in today’s climate where GPU pricing is, well, ridiculous.
Intel Arc B580 overshadows new arrival
Despite many reviews shining a positive light on the newly released $219 GPU, not everyone is as enthusiastic. A number of industry experts are pointing out the fact that, while the B570 offers good value for money, its performance doesn’t quite cut the mustard when compared to the B580.
Intel may have inadvertently shot themselves in the foot by launching the B580 first, especially with pricing being so close. For many, it seems the B580 is the card that offers the true value for money. And for that reason, Intel may see its B570 suffer.
Intel Arc B570 reviews are now live
Tier 1 reviewers have published their thoughts and feelings towards the B570 today, with some variance in opinion amongst industry experts. The likes of TechRadar and Tom’s Hardware are reflecting positively on the new GPU, giving it a respectable score of 3.5 and 4 out of 5.
While TechRadar has given the GPU a 4 out of 5 rating – classed as “great value”, they also claim that it’s “overshadowed by the far superior Arc B580” – a card that retails for just $30 more.
Other publications aren’t quite as enthusiastic about the GPU, with Club386 giving it just 2.5 out of 5. The review claims that the B570 is “too little, too late” – stating that it “can’t escape the shadow of its rivals and sibling”.
Having said that, I feel that the overarching feeling off the back of the review embargo lifting is fairly positive. It certainly isn’t all negative. The majority of the industry seems to think the card showcases good value for money – which is great news for Intel, especially after the last 12 months they’ve had.
All being said, it’s a nice change to see a true budget card do well in reviews. If Intel keeps on this path and becomes more competitive in the GPU space, we may even see pricing become more affordable in the near future. We can only hope.
