PC gamers face crippling 20-week waits for RTX 5080
While the RTX 5080 and 5090 have both officially launched, it’s nearly impossible to get hold of one right now – with the latest stock expectations set between 4 and 20 weeks.
If you’ve been planning on getting an RTX 5080 this month, we have some bad news for you. The latest reports from large UK Retailer, Scan, suggest up to 20-week wait times for the highly anticipated GPU. That’s right, you may be waiting 5 months for the new Blackwell GPU if Nvidia doesn’t improve their distribution process – one of the longest waits we’ve seen in recent times.
The demand for the current RTX 5080 and 5090 has been colossal since their unveiling at this year’s CES tradeshow, with keen buyers camping outside some Micro Centers in the US. UK retailers, such as Scan, also offered up special Nvidia 50 Series launch events to entice people to head into their local stores.

As expected, any available stock for the RTX 5090 and 5080 sold out almost immediately in-store and online, leaving buyers angered by the underwhelming stock levels.
The latest reports from Scan have left some PC builders even more frustrated, as fears of large wait times are confirmed through the retailer’s website.

Nvidia isn’t the only one struggling to supply high-in-demand products this year, with AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D also on buyers’ most wanted lists. With that particular piece of hardware, buyers have a little more clarity on some of the challenges facing AMD, with the brand claiming a 3-month manufacturing process.
At the time of writing, it’s unclear just how long it takes Nvidia to create one of its latest AI-powered cards, so who knows when decent stock will become available. It’s highly likely that when the next batch of GPUs lands, they’ll sell out straight away.
