One of the biggest UK Retailers has confirmed that RTX 5090 & RTX 5080 online stock will likely sell out within minutes of going live.

Fears around limited RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 stock numbers have seemingly been confirmed by a UK retailer today, with one representative confirming that “within 5 mins all GPUs will be sold out online”.

This comes after several recent claims from major manufacturers stating pretty much the same thing, with MSI claiming stock shortages should be expected.

It isn’t all bad news though, as our contact also confirmed that there will be “specific stock set aside for those coming into the store”. Depending on how quick your internet is and how lucky you are, generally speaking, this could be one of the best ways to pick up a GPU on launch day.

Better yet, Scan has confirmed it will be hosting a 50 Series launch event on the day, which offers competitions and more.

RTX 5090 & 5080 demand already sky high

If the demand for these cards wasn’t already apparent, we reported on campers setting up outside of Micro Center in the US today, 4 days ahead of launch. That isn’t quite the case for the UK market yet, but there’s certainly still time for that to happen – even more so thanks to Scan’s RTX 50 series launch event they’re hosting.

The RTX 5090 has already been crowned as the king of gaming after a slew of positive reviews went live last week. The card is showcasing eye-catching performance uplifts over its predecessor thanks to the arrival of DLSS 4, Multi Frame Generation technology. The tech essential quadruple the frame rate of any game that supports it, which at the time of writing, is suggested to be around 75 games.

Overall, things are clearly starting to heat up as we draw closer to the official release date (January 30th, 2025). If you’re desperate to get hold of one of these cards on launch, your best bet may be to head into your local tech store. If not, you may end up paying over-the-odds, scalper prices, or just not getting one at all.
