What was supposed to be the RX 8000 GPU lineup is now reportedly the RX 9000, and the top-end GPU of this upcoming lineup looks to be the RX 9070 XT. It’s possible AMD moved away from the “RX xx00” to better align with Nvidia’s naming standard, as they are only going to compete at budget and mid-range levels.
That being said, PowerColor has posted a couple of images over at X (formerly Twitter) of what could be AMD’s next-generation flagship GPU, the RX 9070 XT. The release date of the RX 9070 XT could be as soon as late January or early February after a launch at CES 2025, but there has been no official word yet.
What we know about the RX 9070 XT
Two posts have been made on PowerColor’s X page: one showing the backplate and the other giving a side and top view of the GPU. The Red Devil logo shines bright red through the backplate, and on the side, there is a gem that should also glow red when the GPU powers up, fitting in with the ‘powerful and menacing’ look.
As per usual with PowerColor’s Red Devil cards, this goes very well with AMD’s red branding. In the picture, we can also see that it features a triple-fan design, which generally costs more compared to dual-fan GPUs but has better cooling. Besides that, there isn’t much information in the post or the pictures, so anything more than this would be speculation.
However, with CES 2025 right around the corner, we shouldn’t have to wait much longer for more information on these new GPUs from Nvidia and AMD. That being said, here are the rumored specifications of the RX 9070 XT so far.
