CPU and GPU
First off, you’ve got an Intel Core i5-13420H processer here. This is a processor from last year and it more than ticks a few boxes when it comes to gaming. When it comes to performance, it has 4 cores and 8 threads, with a 2.1 GHz baseclock and 4.6 GHz turbo. For reference, anything with a baseclock of over 3 GHz is going to be good for more intensive gaming, but since it goes way above that when boosted, you should be able to put this laptop through its paces. Overall, it’s a good CPU to have in this laptop, especially for the price-range.
When it comes to the GPU, you’re getting an Nvidia RTX 4050 which is essentially its entry level graphics card. It’s a decent card too, having 6GB of VRAM, which for reference is a decent amount for 1080p gaming at higher frames-per-second. It has a max GPU power of 75W, which again is pretty good for 1080p gaming. It also has a GPU boost clock of a respectable 1695 MHz, which to put into perspective is around 800 MHz lower than a more mid-range, RTX 4070Ti type of laptop. Once more – it’s fine for 1080p.
Screen
This display is actually pretty good for the price, as it’s 144hz and IPS with 1080p resolution. The refresh rate is akin to your more standard gaming monitors on the market, and anyone will tell you that it’s more than enough for even competitive gamers – although they’ll still throw their money at 360hz monitors when they get the chance (can’t blame them either!)
IPS displays are also quite common nowadays, but they do make a difference when it comes to viewing angles. Add this to its matte finish, and you have something that will prevent any distracting glare even in well-lit surroundings.
15.6 inches is also a decent size, both for slinging in a rucksack and making the most out of the resolution. Larger screens tend to make 1080p look a little low-res, so it’s always advisable to lean to a smaller size if you want the picture to appear clearer.
RAM and storage
While there’s not much of it, you are getting the latest DDR5 RAM in this laptop, which is far better than DDR4 when it comes to MHz (double in most cases). This should help with overall performance and function of the laptop no end.
It also houses a decent sized 512 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD, which while isn’t the largest for a huge library of games will help to improve in game loading and savings times, plus assist with overall performance as well.
