Raspberry Pi Foundation recently announced a price cut on some of its most popular Compute Module 4 (CM4) variants, with savings of up to $10. For those unfamiliar, the CM4 is essentially a Raspberry Pi 4 without the built-in LAN and USB ports. It is not a standalone product but rather a System on Module (SoM) that includes the processor, memory, eMMC flash storage, and power circuitry, designed to be embedded into custom systems.

According to Raspberry Pi’s blog post, if you buy a standard CM4 from an official Raspberry Pi Approved Reseller, you will now pay $5 less for the 4GB RAM versions and $10 less for the 8GB RAM versions.

That said, the Raspberry Pi Compute Module series isn’t really intended for the average consumer, as it doesn’t offer much use in day-to-day scenarios unless you have a plan for an embedded system. But if you’re someone who wants to move beyond the typical Raspberry Pi projects seen online and try something different, like designing your own PCB, then it’s definitely worth considering.
