In the midst of a RAM crisis, along with storage shortages, the price of PC gaming handhelds is higher than ever. Even Valve was forced to raise the price of its popular Steam Deck earlier this year, soon causing sales to tank – but how much is too much? With the upcoming release of the Acer Predator Atlas 8 (which is available to pre-order in the UK), we posed a question to our readers.

While we’re still waiting for the official US pricing, the price of the Atlas 8 in the UK has been known for some time now, starting at £999.99 and up to £1,499.99 for the flagship 32GB RAM model fitted with an Intel Arc G3 Extreme. We put it to our readers to decide which one they think offers the best configuration of the price, and slightly surprisingly, it’s the most expensive option.

Which Acer Predator Atlas 8 handheld would you choose?

Worth the added premium?

We’ll keep the poll up and running, but after around 250 votes, we can see that 38% of respondents say they’d choose the Atlas 8 Extreme option with 32GB of RAM and 1TB storage. It’s certainly the most future-proof of the range, and we’ve only seen great things with Intel’s new Panther Laked-based Arc G3 chips; the MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ is already powered by the Extreme chip variant.

Then, it’s a linear drop down to 31% of votes for the 24GB Extreme model, 20% for the non-Extreme with 24GB RAM, and just 11% for the cheapest £999.99 non-Extreme option with just 16GB of RAM. It’s worth pointing out that customers who pick up a pre-order of the Atlas 8 in the UK will also get an “Exclusive launch pack worth over £285” containing the following extras:

  • Premium handheld gaming dock
  • Predator wireless gaming controller
  • Acer 100W GaN fast charger
  • High-speed NVMe SSD enclosure
  • Your choice of a blockbuster AAA game (Star Wars: Galactic Racer or Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis)
  • Acer extended three-year protection

Acer will be releasing two Intel Arc G3/G3 Extreme-powered handhelds this year – the aforementioned 8-inch Predator Atlas 8 and the 7-inch Predator Atlas 7, coming at a later date in Q4 2026. We’re not yet aware of the pricing of the 7-inch model, but we suspect customers may be more cautious with pricing for the more budget-friendly offering.
