A new report suggests that Steam Deck sales have dropped significantly following Valve’s recent price increase, potentially marking one of the biggest slowdowns the handheld has seen since its launch. The estimates come from Boiling Steam, which recently analyzed Steam’s Global Weekly Top Sellers chart to estimate how many Steam Deck units Valve may currently be selling.

The same publication recently used a similar methodology to estimate sales for the Steam Machine, and it has now turned its attention to the Steam Deck. While the figures are only estimates and have not been confirmed by Valve, they paint a concerning picture of how demand may have changed over the past few months.

How many Steam Decks is Valve selling?

Throughout much of 2025, the Steam Deck consistently ranked between fourth and sixth on Steam’s Global Weekly Top Sellers chart. Since the rankings are based on total revenue generated rather than units sold, Boiling Steam estimated that the handheld was selling somewhere between 11,000 and 18,000 units per week during that period. Things, however, appear to have changed after Valve adjusted Steam Deck pricing earlier this year.

In May 2026, Valve increased the prices of its Steam Deck lineup, citing rising memory costs. Prior to that, the company discontinued the LCD model, leaving only OLED versions available. While the handheld initially managed to maintain a relatively strong position on the Top Sellers chart after returning to stock, its ranking has continued to decline in recent weeks.

According to Boiling Steam’s latest analysis, the Steam Deck is now generally appearing between eighth and fourteenth place on the Global Top Sellers chart. Based on the publication’s calculations, that would translate to weekly sales of roughly 1,400 to 3,000 units. If those estimates are accurate, the Steam Deck’s weekly unit sales may have declined by well over 75% compared to last year, with Boiling Steam suggesting the drop could be as high as 82%.

Of course, pricing may not be the only factor behind the slowdown, as availability could also be playing a role. In some regions, certain Steam Deck models have remained difficult to purchase since the price increase. For example, the 1TB OLED model has been unavailable for extended periods in some markets, while only the 512GB OLED model has remained consistently in stock.

It’s interesting to note that the Steam Deck is still the #1 seller in the UK, ahead of the Steam Controller and Steam Machine. We should probably point out that while the store preview lists it as £389.00, the cheapest you can actually buy one in the region from Valve is £649.00, which is for the 512GB OLED model.

For now, Valve has not shared any official Steam Deck sales figures since the price adjustment, so Boiling Steam’s analysis should be viewed as an estimate rather than confirmed sales data.
