Despite all the fuss about pricing after Steam Machine pre-orders launched starting at $1,049, Valve’s new cubed mini PC has been a success, currently topping the site’s top sellers chart in the United States. Although Valve doesn’t publish exact sales numbers, estimates suggest the company has been selling between 12,000 and 15,000 per week since its launch on June 30.

It’s currently in the #1 spot in the US, but the #2 spot globally, and Boiling Steam used surrounding information to estimate how many Valve may be selling, concluding a ballpark figure of 12K-15K per week so far. Of course, as more people get their orders through the reservation queue, sales will slow down – Valve’s new Steam Controller has also seen exceptional demand.

Based on global figures, Counter-Strike 2 is still in the top spot based on revenue (even though the game is free-to-play), and Palworld is in third place thanks to its recent version 1.0 launch. Wedged in between is the Steam Machine, and Boiling Steam used the other two games as a ‘ceiling and floor’ to estimate unit sales.

Factoring in all CS-related sales, including the likes of tournament stickers, cases, and community marketplace turnover, CS2 is said to set a ceiling of 19 million to 20 million USD of revenue per week. The third spot is often occupied by a popular new game (or major update in Palworld’s case), and Boiling Steam says historical data points towards around 7 and 9 million weekly revenue for this level on the top sellers list.

Based on the ceiling and floor figures, and an estimated 65/35 split between 512GB and 2TB buyers, Boiling Steam places Steam Machine revenue between 10 million and 18 million USD per week. With the more conservative figure, Valve could be selling less than 9,000 units – but at the other end of estimates, it could be shifting more than 15,000 units per week.

Interestingly, the Steam Deck is still in the #1 spot in the UK, while the Steam Machine sits in second place. Valve was forced to up the price of the popular handheld when it came back in stock at the end of May, due to memory and storage-related shortages. Steam Machine pricing suffered for the same reason – it was originally planned to launch for hundreds cheaper.
