The ROG Xbox Ally X20 was released on October 15 as a special-edition handheld celebrating 20 years of ASUS’ Republic of Gamers brand. It offers several upgrades over the standard ROG Ally models, including an OLED display, TMR joysticks, and a unique design. Demand was expected to be high, and shortly after launch, the handheld started selling out across various retailers. Now, scalpers appear to be taking advantage of the limited availability.

ASUS launched the ROG Xbox Ally X20 with a $1,299.99 price tag, which already makes it one of the more expensive gaming handhelds on the market. However, that hasn’t stopped buyers from picking it up, as finding one through official retailers has become increasingly difficult.

The limited-edition model is difficult to find right now

With regular stock drying up, third-party sellers are now asking significantly more for the handheld. One listing on eBay currently has the X20 priced at $2,000, and what’s even more surprising is that it isn’t a brand-new unit. Instead, the listing is for an Open-Box model. Other sellers are pushing prices even higher, with some listings sitting at around $2,700, more than double the handheld’s original launch price.

The standalone X20 isn’t the only version being targeted. ASUS also launched the ROG Xbox Ally X20 20th Anniversary Bundle for $2,499.99, which includes the handheld alongside the ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 Gaming AR Glasses and other accessories. With official availability limited, some third-party listings are now asking more than $4,000 for the bundle.

At the moment, ASUS hasn’t provided an update on when more stock will become available or when buyers can expect another batch to arrive. Even Open-Box units at retailers such as Best Buy are currently unavailable, leaving few alternatives for those who want the handheld right now. Still, paying hundreds or even thousands of dollars above the official price doesn’t make much sense.
