Nvidia fans are currently looking forward to the RTX 50 series GPUs, which are rumored to arrive as early as this month. The upcoming lineup is expected to offer significant improvements over the previous RTX 40 series cards. However, while we wait for the next generation of graphics cards to arrive, a GPU from 2021 is stealing the spotlight on Amazon US.

RTX 3060 still going strong after nearly four years
According to the Amazon Best Sellers page for GPUs, the RTX 3060 is currently the top-selling graphics card. Specifically, it’s the MSI Gaming GeForce RTX 3060 12GB model. If you head over to its product page, you can see that more than 9,000 units of this card have been sold in the past month. Not massively surprising given that it remains number one in Steam’s Hardware & Software Survey.

After the RTX 3060, the second best-selling GPU is the ASUS Dual RTX 4070 Super, which is a mid-range option from Nvidia, perfect for 1440p gaming. Next on the list is the RX 6600 from AMD, another budget-friendly option for 1080p. Do keep in mind that there are multiple SKUs to account for from different manufacturers, so sales numbers across all models aren’t immediately clear.
An interesting point to note is that none of the top 10 best-selling GPUs on Amazon are for 4K gaming. Instead, all of them are either built for 1080p or 1440p gaming. The fact that the RTX 3060 is still the best seller indicates that 1080p gaming is far from dead. On top of that, the card also stands out because of its 12GB VRAM, something that we don’t get to see in Nvidia’s budget GPUs anymore. Its successor, the RTX 4060 offers only 8GB of VRAM, while the RTX 5060 is also expected to have the same.
While 8GB of VRAM was fine a few years ago, modern games are demanding more VRAM. For instance, we saw how Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was struggling on GPUs with 8GB of VRAM, and the developers had to release a fix to make the game playable. Intel also seems to understand that such little VRAM isn’t going to impress anyone anymore, which is why they launched two budget GPUs with 10GB+ memory.
