RTX 5060 Ti 16GB and 8GB performance tested in launch day review, here’s how they compare

Table of Contents
Reviews are starting to trickle in for the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti. Though most of these have been for the 16GB model, at least one reviewer got hold of an 8GB model for testing. The results are not impressive. Tech blogger Harukaze5719 posted on Twitter/X the results of a set of hardware benchmarks performed on the RTX 5060 Ti in both 16GB and 8GB versions. The results are somewhat confusing and do not show Team Green in the best light.
The strangeness begins with the results of the synthetic benchmarks. When running the two card versions through 3DMark's Time Spy test, the RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB posted a score of 16,101, while the 8GB version scored 16,134 on Time Spy. Time Spy Extreme was similarly puzzling, with the 16GB version scoring 7,377 and the 8GB posting a score of 7,418.
5060 Ti gaming benchmarks compared
Ok, synthetic benchmarks can sometimes be a little confusing. Next, the review pitted the RTX 5060 Ti against the RTX 4060 Ti (8GB), RTX 4070, and RTX 5070 in Cyberpunk 2077. The 8GB version of the RTX 5060 Ti posted an FPS of 9.1 with no Frame Gen enabled. The RTX 4060 Ti managed 13.38 on pure rasterisation performance. With 2X frame generation, the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB pulled 61 FPS, compared to the RTX 4060 Ti, which managed 55.

RTX 5060 Ti 8GB | 42 FPS | 33 FPS |
RTX 5060 Ti 16GB | 47 FPS | 39 FPS |
RTX 4060 Ti 8GB | 40 FPS | 31 FPS |
RTX 4070 | 55 FPS | 45 FPS |
RTX 5070 | 60 FPS | 49 FPS |
These figures do not speak much of a performance uplift versus the previous generation. Particularly for the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB. Perhaps things will improve as better drivers are rolled out, but at the moment, the 8GB version is going to struggle to justify the price when compared to previous generations.
In our own review of the RTX 5060 Ti (16GB), the card, we tested Cyberpunk 2077 and Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which can take a look at the results of just below:
