Even though the RTX 5090 has been out for a couple of months now, albeit with limited stock and inflated prices, we’re still waiting for RTX 5090 laptops to hit the market, though they are now available for pre-order. Reviews with hands-on testing for the new RTX 50 series laptops have finally arrived, and they tell us that one of these next-gen laptops might be a hard sell.

Paying as much as $4,899.99 for a gaming laptop might sound crazy, but it’s the reality with the new Razer Blade 16 featuring the RTX 5090 laptop GPU. Laptop reviewer Jarrod’s Tech has provided an in-depth look at this device, concluding that it might not be worth it based on this generation’s performance uplift.

RTX 5090 gaming laptops are hard to justify as 4090 models drop in price

There’s no doubt that these 5090 laptops offer the best gaming performance to date, but is it worth it? The RTX 5090 laptop GPU is the first to feature 24GB of VRAM, but 4090 laptops simply offer better value now that last-gen products are getting their prices reduced.

“I do think that the Blade 16 itself is a much better gaming laptop this year. Except, at the end of the day, I didn’t find a whole lot of major performance improvements with the new RTX 5090 graphics over the older 4090. I’m a bit disappoint in the performance uplift in games if I’m being honest. At least when not factoring in frame generation, of course.

The crazy high prices make it very difficult to justify unless you have a ton of money to spend and you want one of the best-feeling gaming laptops.”

You may have noticed that the Amazon Spring Sale is currently happening, running between March 25th and March 31st. With that in mind, you might be able to score a decent deal, such as the Alienware Dell M18 R2 (RTX 4090, Intel Core i9-14900HX), which is 15% off at the time of writing.
