Previous RTX 60 series predictions have been relatively optimistic, placing the graphics cards for launch at CES 2027 at “the very earliest”. It would presumably be the flagship RTX 6090 launching first, based on the past couple of generations. However, the most recent rumors are now taking the ongoing memory shortages into account. We’ve already seen RTX 50 Super delays being reported, and now, the RTX 60 series might be pushed back as far as early 2028.

The latest report comes from a prominent hardware leaker, RedGamingTech, who has also suggested when AMD’s next-gen RDNA 5 cards will be launched. Based on what we’re hearing, Team Red’s next generation of gaming GPUs could arrive sooner than Nvidia’s.

RTX 60 series could launch in late 2027 or early 2028

The previous early 2027 speculation seems to have been disrupted, and while it’s impossible to provide a concrete date or month just yet, industry insiders have a pessimistic outlook on the upcoming launch, as far as the timeframe goes.

“I was hearing it was going to be a Q1 announcement, for 2027… that seems to now be not happening. I’m hearing from multiple sources. One source told me that AIBs are very skeptical it’s even going to be the RTX 60 [series] launching in 2027 whatsoever. They’re thinking late 2027 or maybe 2028.”

It’s worth taking current date predictions with a grain of salt, as Nvidia is far from confirming the RTX 60 series release date. In any case, the current DRAM supply shortages, caused by high demand from AI data centers, are likely affect the GPU industry. Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney has stated that RAM price hikes will affect high-end gaming for “several years”.

RedGamingTech says that he has been reaching out to more people within the industry, and whether they are providing leaks or just beating around the bush, he claims that “everyone is frustrated at this point”.
