RTX 60 series specs leak suggests VRAM upgrades and major path tracing performance boost

Leaks involving Nvidia’s next-generation GPUs are starting to appear, and they give us an early look at what the RTX 60 series might offer. While nothing is official yet, a new leak, which comes from RedGamingTech on YouTube, suggests that Nvidia is preparing a big shift, especially when it comes to ray tracing and AI performance.
Part of the leak is that the RTX 60 series will be based on a new “Rubin” architecture and built using TSMC’s 3nm process; Nvidia introduced Rubin at CES 2026. This should bring better efficiency and performance compared to current GPUs. The new lineup is also expected to include 6th-gen Tensor cores and 5th-gen RT cores, which will play a big role in AI features and ray tracing.
Up to 2x performance claims for path tracing on RTX 60 series
One of the biggest claims is performance. Nvidia is reportedly targeting up to 2x improvement in path tracing performance compared to the RTX 50 series. This shows that the company is focusing heavily on advanced lighting and realism in games. However, traditional raster performance gains are expected to be more modest, around 30-35%.

Looking at specific models, the flagship GeForce RTX 6090 is rumored to use the GR202 chip. It could feature up to 192 SM units, a 512-bit memory bus, and 32GB of GDDR7 memory. However, like previous flagship GPUs, the final version may use slightly fewer cores than the full chip.
The GeForce RTX 6080 is expected to come with a 320-bit memory bus and around 20GB of VRAM, while the GeForce RTX 6070 could feature a 256-bit bus with 16GB of memory. These are notable upgrades, especially in memory bandwidth, with the RTX 6070 alone seeing around a 33% increase over its predecessor.
Another key point is that Nvidia is not relying only on more cores for performance. Instead, improvements are expected to come from better architecture, higher clock speeds, and more efficient design. This also ties into future technologies like DLSS 5, which heavily relies on AI processing for its new neural rendering feature, something that has been splitting opinion online.
