Newegg occasionally introduces new bundles that help people save money on two, three, or more components. This time, they’ve introduced a 2-in-1 bundle, and you can save a decent amount on two key components. However, you’ll need to act quickly, as the bundle will disappear if any of the two items go out of stock.

The bundle comes with a processor and motherboard which is useful whether you’re just looking to upgrade to a new generation – or if you plan to kickstart a brand-new build on Intel’s LGA 1700 socket.

Newegg 2-in-1 12900K bundle

Intel Core i9-12900K CPU and ASUS ROG Strix Z790-H Gaming motherboard

What does the Newegg 2-in-1 12900K bundle offer?

Below, we’ve gone into detail about the two components featured in the bundle – the former flagship Intel Core i9-12900K processor and a compatible ASUS ROG Strix DDR5 motherboard.

CPU: Intel Core i9-12900K

The bundle offers the Intel Core i9-12900K. This is a high-end processor from the 12th-gen lineup that can smoothly handle CPU-intensive tasks such as video editing, gaming, and animation. It has 16 cores, divided into 8 Performance cores and 8 Efficient cores. The E-cores are used for light tasks that don’t require a lot of processing power, while P-cores are activated during demanding tasks.

Aside from that, the 12900K operates at a base frequency of 2.40 GHz, while the P-cores run at 3.20 GHz. However, they can go up to 5.1 GHz during CPU-intensive tasks. The CPU also has a TDP of 125W, so it can get hot during long gaming or work sessions. To help keep the temps low, we recommend using one of the best AIO coolers. Also, you should get one of the best power supplies for gaming to ensure the CPU and other components stay safe from issues such as sudden power spikes.

Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix Z790-H Gaming

For the motherboard, Newegg has decided to pair the 12900K with the ASUS ROG STRIX Z790-H Gaming WiFi. This one comes with the LGA 1700 socket, so it is compatible with Intel 12th, 13th, and 14th Gen processors. In other words, if you ever upgrade to a processor from a newer generation (excluding the very latest Core Ultra 200S CPUs) you won’t have to worry about replacing the board.

When it comes to the specifications, the Z790-H Gaming can host up to four DDR5 RAM 7800+ (OC) MHz sticks with a maximum storage capacity of 192GB. It also supports the Intel Extreme Memory Profile, commonly known as XMP. You’ll also find a PCIe 5.0 x16, PCIe 4.0 x16, and PCIe 3.0 x1 slot on the board.

There are four M.2 slots that can help you connect SSDs and four SATA 6GB/s ports for standard HDDs. For connectivity, you’ll find 10 USB ports, one HDMI and DisplayPort, one WiFi Module, five gold-plated audio jacks, one BIOS FlashBack button, and a 2.5G Ethernet Port for high-speed internet connections. An interesting feature of this board is the Slot Q-Release, which can help you unlock the first PCIe slot’s security latch with one tap. For full specs, you can head over to the official product page of the motherboard on ASUS’s website.

While we haven’t reviewed this model in particular, we found the enthusiast Z790 chipset to be an excellent choice overall if you’re planning on switching to LGA 1700. For reference, we reviewed the ASUS Prime Z790.

How much will you save?

If you buy the two components individually, you’d have to spend around $590. However, thanks to Newegg’s bundle, you can get them for just under $550, saving $40. We also recommend checking out one of the best GPUs for the 12900K, if you’re looking for the right graphics card for this CPU.

In case you want a bundle with more components, then you can check out Newegg’s 3-in-1 AM5 bundle, which also includes DDR5 RAM and one of AMD’s latest motherboard chipsets.
