Ever since the Ryzen 7 9800X3D was released, people have been waiting for the price of the 7800X3D to drop. The CPU is almost two years old, but its price has significantly increased over the past couple of months. However, while the CPU has received another price drop, it still isn’t close to where it was before September this year.
7800X3D’s price drops down to $449
The Ryzen 7 7800X3D is one of the most powerful and popular gaming processors available. With 8 cores, 16 threads, and a max boost clock of up to 5 GHz, this CPU is designed to handle almost anything you throw at it. However, nearly two years after its launch, demand for the CPU remains high, leading to price increases and even stock shortages. At one point, Newegg was among the few retailers offering it, but it had it listed for $689.

On November 21 this year, just a few weeks after the 9800X3D’s launch, the 7800X3D received its first price drop, bringing its price down from $478 to $458 – a $20 discount. While the discount wasn't significant, it was an indication that the price reduction process had begun.
Now, another month has passed, and the 7800X3D’s price has dropped by another $8 on Amazon. While this brings the price down to $449, it's still far from the CPU’s average price. Most of the time, before September this year, it was available between the $350 and $400 range, and many were expecting its price to drop below $350 after the 9800X3D’s launch.
One important point to note is that the 9800X3D is also currently facing low stock issues. The CPU is unavailable at major retailers like Amazon, Newegg, and Best Buy. This could be one of the reasons why the price of the 7800X3D hasn't dropped significantly, as demand for it remains high due to the 9800X3D's shortage. Once the stock issues are resolved, we might see the price drop below the $400 mark.
