The Ryzen 7 7800X3D is one of the top gaming CPUs, and it offers a great blend of price and performance. However, if you’re planning to buy one, you might need to wait, as it’s currently out of stock at major retailers like Amazon and Best Buy. Even retailers that have it available, like Newegg, are selling it at significantly higher prices than usual due to limited supply.
Ryzen 7 7800X3D’s price appears to be heading up
Usually, we see the price of older-generation hardware drop before a new launch, which is why many people wait for such launch events to get discounts. Retailers often reduce prices on older models when new ones are introduced. AMD fans were expecting this with the X3D processors, including the 7800X3D, ahead of the rumored 9800X3D launch this month. However, it seems like the opposite has happened, as the price of the 7800X3D has increased significantly over the past few weeks, and its stock is also running low.
On Amazon, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D is now out of stock. This happened after we saw a big increase in its price. According to CamelCamelCamel, its price started going above $420 after August, and in September, it hit $514 before getting stable at $445.
Previously, the CPU was mostly available for around $399. However, during the past few weeks, it has stayed close to $445 on Amazon. Even at Best Buy and B&H, the processor is no longer in stock. However, when it was available, the CPU was listed for $449 and $459, which is again higher than normal.
Right now, Newegg seems to be one of the few popular retailers in the US offering the Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU. However, it is currently listed there for $689. If you look at its price history on PCPartPicker, this is the highest we’ve seen yet for the processor, as it never went above $449. In fact, around two weeks ago, you could get it for $399 on Newegg. Based on how things are at the moment, the price isn’t likely to go down any time soon.
It’s best to wait
It is important to keep in mind that retailers often want to clear out older inventory to make space for new arrivals, which can sometimes lead to price surges and stock issues. So, while the hype around the Ryzen 7 9800X3D may be driving prices up for the 7800X3D in the short term, it’s likely that we will see a price drop after the new model is officially released.
However, given that the 9800X3D might get released this month, there seems to be no point in picking up the 7800X3D right now for such a high price, as we’ll be getting a better model soon. It’s currently available for more than $250 above its regular price, so it’s best if you wait for the new X3D CPU to hit the market. When that happens, you will most likely find the 7800X3D at a lower price. But right now, resellers will try to take advantage of the situation by selling it way higher than the retailers.
