Chinese PC maker, Linglong, has unveiled a unique design that packs a powerful computer into a foldable keyboard. This isn’t your typical mini PC that needs to be plugged into work, as it only requires a monitor and mouse to become a fully functional PC. On top of that, it comes with a powerful battery that can keep the system running for up to 10 hours. There’s much more to this little device than you’d think at first glance. Sure, it could be seen as a novelty to some, but for others, it has real-world use.
What the Linglong keyboard offers
To begin with, the Linglong keyboard comes with the AMD Ryzen 7 884U processor. This processor has 8 cores, 16 threads, and a max boost clock of up to 5.1 GHz. On top of that, it features Radeon 780M graphics, making the keyboard powerful enough to handle everyday tasks smoothly. Depending on the variant you select, you can get 16 or 32 GB of DDR5 RAM, which is more than enough for multitasking. And for storage, you can opt for either 512 GB or 1 TB.
As far as connectivity is concerned, you’ll get USB4, USB 3.1 Type-A, and USB 3.1 ports. This means you’ll be able to connect a variety of devices directly to the keyboard. On top of that, for better internet speeds, it comes with WiFi 6. As it’s meant to act as a portable mini PC, there’s a 60Wh battery inside the keyboard. This offers a backup of up to 4 hours for gaming and 6 hours for entertainment. If you’re only using it for basic tasks, the battery can last up to 10 hours. This translates to a full workday of productivity without needing an outlet.
The chassis is divided into two parts. One stores the battery, while the other hosts all the components. The second one also comes with a single fan which helps keep the temperatures low. If you’re interested in trying out the Linglong keyboard, you will need to wait. This is because there are currently only 200 units available, and these are only for Beta testing. The company has yet to reveal when it will become available globally.
Who is this foldable keyboard for?
The Linglong keyboard definitely looks like a great choice for those who want to ditch bulky laptops and carry around something small. It weighs only 800g, so you won’t even feel it’s there in your bag. However, judging from the specs, it’s more suitable for those who mainly engage in basic everyday tasks and not something resource-hungry like video editing or animation. Also, it comes with a single fan, and users may face overheating issues during long gaming sessions.
