inZOI is one of the newest life simulation games on the market, and just like every other new title, it comes with its own set of performance problems. If you’re looking to move from a lightweight game like The Sims to inZOI, then you’ll notice the difference in performance. It has proven to be relatively demanding, even dropping Steam Deck support as a result.

While the developers are expected to release patches and updates over the next few months to improve the game, there is already a helpful solution available right now in the form of a new mod that has been created to make the game run better.

What does the mod offer?

The mod is called inZOI Optimizer, and it’s available on Nexus Mods. It was created by a user named FrancisLouis. The main goal of this mod is to improve performance and reduce stuttering in inZOI by optimizing how the game handles shaders and asset streaming. According to the creator of the mod, this mod tackles these five areas:

  • Shader Handling Improvements: In many Unreal Engine games, shader compilation causes stuttering. This mod changes how shaders are processed, so they're loaded more efficiently and even pre-cached. That way, when you move into new areas or activate new effects, there's less delay.
  • Asset Streaming Optimization: The mod changes how textures, models, and other assets are loaded during gameplay. It makes better use of memory and allows assets to load in the background, which helps prevent your system from lagging or freezing when a lot is happening on screen.
  • CPU and GPU Resource Management: The mod lets the game use your CPU and GPU more smartly, spreading out heavy tasks like shadows, physics, and rendering across multiple cores. This helps the game run faster, especially in busy scenes.
  • Background Processes and Logging: It turns off extra system processes and debug logs that aren't needed during gameplay. This frees up system resources for smoother performance.
  • Support for Modern Systems: This includes better memory handling, faster garbage collection, and multithreaded rendering. These changes help take advantage of newer hardware, boosting both frame rates and overall stability.

The creator mentions that while the mod is built to help most players, results may vary depending on your PC's hardware and software. Some people may see a big improvement, while others might notice only small changes. In rare cases, the mod could cause issues, so you should simply delete it if it starts causing problems for you.

In any case, after you download the mod, all you have to do is drop the pak file here: BlueClient\Content\Paks\~mods. Most users should be able to find this in C:\Users[your user]\AppData\Local\. Keep in mind that you’ll need to create the ~mods folder yourself.

If you’re looking for more inZOI mods for performance, we recommend this recent Frame Generation mod for “any GPU”. Likewise, if you’re looking to play on Steam Deck, there are some useful graphics settings for optimal performance.
