Valve is going to experiment with “more niche” Steam sales events next year

There always seems to be a sale happening on Steam, whether it be the big Summer Sale that wrapped up last month or smaller themed events. For example, Racing Fest currently has plenty of Steam Deck Verified games for under $10, giving handheld players a great chance to save some cash.
Looking ahead, Valve has now shared its plans for sales events in the first half of 2026, and they’re introducing something new. Alongside the usual seasonal and themed sales, Steam will be trying out Spotlight Fests. These will be smaller events that will focus on more specific, niche themes.
New niche theme sales planned for 2026
According to Valve, Spotlight Fests are meant to “go deeper with more niche themes over a shorter period of time.” Unlike the bigger seasonal events that run for a week or more and cover a wide range of genres, Spotlight Fests will focus on very specific categories of games. The best part is that these events will appear on Steam’s front page under the Discounts & Events section, making them easy to find.
While Valve has already been doing this, it seems they’re getting even more niche to highlight games that don’t get much attention during the larger sales. ‘Hidden Object Fest’ already intrigues us. This will also give players a chance to discover hidden gems that might be flying under the radar.
