Valve updates Steam Frame reservations to let customers know when their pre-order is available
Pre-orders for the Steam Frame essentially kicked off when Valve opened its reservation queue on September 14th, giving fans the chance to join the queue (with 256GB & 1TB options available) while they await their chance to order via randomized invites. And now, those stuck waiting in the queue have a better idea of when the VR headset might arrive on their doorstep.
Valve has provided an official update to give customers in the reservation queue an “expected order window” for their Steam Frame, which is currently split into two dates. They’ll either receive it by December or by a more generic 2027 window. Valve says once we move into the new year, customers slated for a 2027 order will be updated with a more specific order date.
Customers in the reservation queue can check their Steam account
You can now check on your expected order window by going directly to the Steam Frame product page while logged in to your Steam account. Once there, you’ll see confirmation that you’ll receive your order email either by December, or in 2027. Those in the 2027 camp will receive further (more detailed) information on their expected order timing by January.Â

In addition to the good news for those in the reservation queue, Valve has also provided an update on the waitlist. If you’ve put your name down for a Steam Frame, but you’ve still not received an email to confirm you’re in the queue, that means you’re on the waitlist – it’s essentially a secondary queue. The waitlist is still free to join (assuming your Steam account is eligible), and Valve says to waitlist members that “we will let you know if spots open up” for reservations moving forward.

Most recently, version 0.4 was released with a battery life upgrade for all users. Valve has also released CAD files and electrical interface information for the VR headset, now available on GitLab. The company says it looks forward to seeing “what our customers and partners will make”.
