There was a special Nintendo Direct yesterday to celebrate 40 years of The Legend of Zelda, with the biggest reveal reserved for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Switch 2. The ground-up remake will be released this November, shortly before GTA 6. Nintendo also launched pre-orders for a new 40th Anniversary Edition console, and it’s already sold out across popular retailers.

If you’re looking to pick one up right now, your only real option in the US is delving into the world of resellers. On marketplaces such as eBay, we’ve seen people selling their presale orders starting at $799.99, or a few hundred dollars more for a full bundle including a matching controller and the game itself – with early physical game copies featuring special Texture Foil Cover Art.

Retailing for $519.99, the new 40th Anniversary Edition is $20 more expensive than a standard Switch 2 System. Price hikes for the console took effect on September 1 in the United States, Canada, and Europe, jumping $50 USD / $50 CAD / €30 EUR respectively. Nintendo was previously running a limited-time ‘Choose Your Game’ bundle, but that has since expired.

The console will be released on October 29, shortly before the release of the Ocarina of Time remake. It celebrates the 40th anniversary of the franchise – not just OoT itself – featuring a green and gold color scheme along with a special black and gold-colored Switch 2 dock featuring the iconic Triforce symbol. Here’s what you get in the bundle:

• Nintendo Switch 2 system
• Joy-Con 2 (L) in Green and Gold
• Joy-Con 2 (R) in Green and Gold
• Nintendo Switch 2 AC Adapter
• USB-C® Charging Cable
• Nintendo Switch 2 Dock
• Joy-Con 2 Grip
• Joy-Con 2 Strap (×2)
• Ultra High Speed HDMI™ Cable

Nintendo will be hosting another Direct today (September 9). This time it’s a generic Nintendo Direct, so expect announcements across a wider range of franchises. In any case, with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on November 11, it means we’re actually getting two major blockbuster launches in one month – not just GTA 6.
