Leaker shares iPhone Fold 3D renders, first look at Apple’s rumored foldable met with mixed reaction
Since last year, several leaks and rumors have been circulating online claiming that Apple is working on its first foldable iPhone, which could launch alongside the iPhone 18 series. The device is rumored to feature a crease-free foldable display supplied by Samsung, and a new leak has now given us a closer look at what the phone might look like.
The latest leak comes from well-known Apple leaker Sonny Dickson, who recently shared what appear to be 3D CAD rendering files of the iPhone Fold. These files usually surface around this time of year as accessory makers begin preparing cases and other products before new iPhone launches.
iPhone Fold 3D renders appear online
The leaked renders show the back design of the foldable iPhone, which appears to include a camera module similar to the one used on the iPhone Air. However, instead of a single lens, the foldable model seems to feature two rear cameras placed on a raised camera plateau. The device’s frame also appears to have a mix of rounded and flat edges, with the squared sides likely positioned around the hinge area.

Immediate reaction online seems to be pretty mixed, though it should be said that any early leaks like these should be met with a grain of salt, not to mention that this may not represent the finalized design. One person claimed, “People don’t want this,” and was met with some immediate rebuke. Others suggest the design is unoriginal, pointing towards existing foldables such as the Google Pixel Fold and Microsoft Surface Duo 2. Pricing also remains a worry, especially given Apple’s history with first-gen tech like the $3,499 Vision Pro.
The renders also show how the phone might look when opened and closed. When unfolded, the inner display appears to include a small front-facing camera cutout in the top-left corner. Another camera hole can be seen on the outer display when the phone is folded, suggesting that the device may include separate cameras for the cover screen and inner display.
Earlier leaks and rumors have already suggested that the iPhone Fold is expected to be powered by Apple’s upcoming A20 Pro chip, which could be built using a 2nm manufacturing process. It may also feature Apple’s C2 baseband modem for improved connectivity. For reference, the iPhone 17e released earlier this week features an A19 chip.
In terms of memory and storage, the foldable iPhone is rumored to include 12GB of RAM, with storage options of 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. The camera system is also expected to be solid, with two 48MP sensors, including a wide and an ultra-wide lens.
As for the display, the device could feature a 7.8-inch inner folding screen along with a 5.5-inch cover display on the outside. The phone is also expected to be very thin, as it could measure around 4.5 to 4.88mm thick when unfolded, and roughly 9 to 9.5mm when folded.
