More specs and price details leak for Sony’s new luxury 1000X headphones, ahead of expected May launch date
Table of Contents
It was shortly after Apple released its AirPods Max 2 when we started to hear about a new pair of premium (or luxury) Sony headphones, set to be more expensive than the Max sequel. Back then, they were simply being referred to as ‘The ColleXion’ rather than being directly related to the popular 1000X line-up. Previous leaks placed it at a hefty €629 price tag in Europe.
Now, the same source has leaked even more information about the Sony headphones, now referred to as Sony 1000X The ColleXion. Hardware technical specs and pricing details for the US, UK, and Canada have been leaked by billbil-kun. If you’re not familiar with the name, they’re a well-known hardware leaker with a pretty good track record as of late.
Sony 1000X The ColleXion specs and price revealed in latest leak
We can’t say we’re immediately keen on the name, but as a high-end pair of headphones, The ColleXion will aim to deliver excellent sound quality and features. According to the leak, Sony claims these cans are fitted with its best upscaler to date, DSEE Ultimate (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine is Sony’s proprietary upscaling tech).

Price
- Europe: €629 (EUR)
- United Kingdom: £549 (GBP)
- United States: $649 (USD)
- Canada: $849 (CAD)
With this updated leak, we can see that regions outside of Europe also carry a similarly high price tag. Compared to the AirPods Max 2, The ColleXion is said to be $100 more expensive in the US, £50 in the UK, and $50 in Canada.
All these prices are well beyond what you’d pay for the WH-1000XM6, Sony’s latest 1000X model. Those launched for $449 USD last year, so it’s difficult to imagine the new luxury pair being a direct replacement. Speaking of the WH-1000XM6, a new Sandstone color is expected to be released at the same time as The ColleXion.
In the leak, billbil-kun claims that The ColleXion and the Sandstone WH-1000XM6 will be released on May 19, 2026. The Sandstone variant will be priced the same as other colorways in the line-up.
