Apple recently announced its brand-new AirPods Max 2, with a release date coming in April. If you’re looking to upgrade to these new over-ear headphones as soon as possible, then you’ll be glad to know that pre-orders will be available online ahead of the full release. Of course, the official Apple store will be the go-to spot for fans – but it won’t be the only place selling them.
AirPods Max 2 retain the same design as their predecessor, while upgrading to Apple’s new H2 headphone chip, claiming to offer “1.5x more effective” Active Noise Cancellation than the first-gen model. It will be available in five unique colors and launches with the exact same price tag as 2020’s AirPods Max 1.

Apple says the AirPods Max 2 will be available to pre-order on March 25. No exact time of day has been revealed just yet, unlike what we saw with its other hardware launches this March. The release time may be made obvious closer to the date, though there’s also a decent chance ‘March 25’ simply applies to your local time zone rather than having a simultaneous global launch.

How much do the AirPods Max 2 cost?
Pricing for the second-gen AirPods Max is simple. It’s the same as the original generation, essentially upgrading customers to the newer H2 chip with better active noise cancelling at no added cost. Since we’re covering the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada within this guide, here are the prices in those three regions:

Apple states prices are ‘from’ the specified value, though there is only one model of the AirPods Max 2 to concern yourself with. An additional extra that will bump up the price tag is AppleCare (AppleCare+ or AppleCare One). Customers can also add an engraving to the headphones, including a mixture of names, initials, numbers, and even emojis to create something more unique to you. On some external retailers, such as Best Buy, the release date is listed as April 1. This should be when you can pick one up directly from a physical Apple Store.
