GTA 6 file size leaked, and it’s one of the biggest games ever made, double the size of RDR2 at launch

GTA 6 is shaping up to be the biggest video game launch in history, and it seems the game itself could be massive in more ways than one. With its November 19 release date inching closer, a new leak has now revealed how much storage space players may need to set aside, and the figure is significantly higher than Rockstar’s previous games.
According to PlayStation Game Size on X, which tracks information found through the PlayStation Store backend, the standard edition of GTA 6 will reportedly require around 210 GB of storage on PS5. Rockstar hasn’t officially confirmed the figure yet, so it should still be treated as a leak for now. The Xbox Series X/S install size also remains unknown, although it could end up being somewhere around the same size.
How does the GTA 6 file size compare to other AAA games?
If accurate, 210 GB would make GTA 6 one of the largest major games around. For comparison, Red Dead Redemption 2 required 99 GB on PS4 and 107 GB on Xbox One at launch (according to reports at the time), meaning Rockstar’s next game could take up more than twice as much space. Other major releases such as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Stalker 2 have been around the 160 GB mark, while Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has also reached roughly 175 GB.

Of course, a larger installation doesn’t automatically mean GTA 6 will offer twice as much content as a smaller game. File sizes can be affected by everything from textures and audio to cinematics and how developers compress game data. Still, a 210 GB requirement wouldn’t be too surprising considering the scale Rockstar appears to be targeting.
GTA 6 is expected to feature a huge open world filled with detailed environments, characters, vehicles, interiors, activities, and other content. Its map has also been reported to be considerably larger than Red Dead Redemption 2’s, so all of that content will naturally require plenty of storage.
Thankfully, players won’t have to download everything on launch day. Preloading is scheduled to begin on November 12, giving buyers a full week to install the game before its November 19 release.
