OpenAI has introduced a new subscription plan for the world’s most popular AI chatbot. The ChatGPT Team Plan is a “new plan for teams of all sizes with access to advanced models and tools, business-grade data privacy & security, and the ability to create and share custom GPTs.” Here’s how the admin tools and dedicated collaborative workspace of ChatGPT Teams can benefit AI-powered team management in your business.

What is the ChatGPT Team Plan?

For the first time since ChatGPT Enterprise, the OpenAI team is introducing a new subscription tier for the popular AI chatbot service. The new option, called ChatGPT Team Plan, falls between ChatGPT Plus and ChatGPT Enterprise both in terms of pricing and features. It allows a manager within a business to keep control of a team that uses ChatGPT as part of its professional workflow.

Opening ChatGPT in a browser today will display the message “Upgrade Plan: Collaborate on a Team Plan” in the lower left corner.

What’s the difference between ChatGPT Plus, ChatGPT Teams, and ChatGPT Enterprise?

ChatPlus enables access to GPT-4, OpenAI’s “most capable model”. You can also browse, create, and use GPTs (also known as custom GPTs) with this plan. Access to “additional tools” is enabled on all paid subscription tiers, which include DALL-E 3 (Stylized DALL·E 3), internet browsing via ChatGPT, ‘Advanced Data Analysis’ for analyzing data in document files, and more.

ChatGPT Teams enables “everything in ChatGPT Plus” in addition to higher message caps for all AI models, including while using additional tools. This means that you can prompt the AI chatbot more frequently in a given time period. You can also “create and share GPTs with your workspace”. An admin console is provided for managing your AI-powered team, and OpenAI clearly states that it will not train its models “on your data” while using the ChatGPT Team Plan.
