If you’ve heard of TikTok’s newest AI-powered chatbot you may be wondering, is Tako free? At the moment, this AI chatbot is in its testing phase and is only available to a select group of users based in the Philippines.
TikTok has not made any announcement suggesting that they plan to make users pay for using Tako. Other social media platforms such as Snapchat now offer an AI chatbot feature for free. So with that in mind, we can’t help but hope that TikTok will follow suit and keep the fun flowing without any extra costs.

Once officially released, Tako will completely revolutionize the way you search and discover content on the platform. Some users have already had a sneak preview of this new feature, getting a first glimpse into how Tako really works.
Daniel Buchuk from Watchful Technologies was one of these users. He revealed in an early access post what Tako can do. He said this: “If I’m watching food videos and ask for a recipe, I’ll get related TikTok videos for the recipe, or if I ask for good art exhibitions in Paris, it’ll show videos alongside a list of suggestions in the answer”.
Once launched, expect Tako’s ghost icon to appear above your TikTok profile icon. Tapping it will launch a chat screen similar to that of other AI bots, like ChatGPT and Google Bard. Here Tako will be able to communicate with you in a conversational manner helping you find new TikTok reels related to a variety of different topics.
