Tako is set to be the latest addition to the TikTok app. According to developers, Tako is designed to help fans with “search and discovery” on the platform. So what does this mean?

Well, Daniel Buchuk from Watchful Technologies revealed what this chatbot can do in an early access post. According to Buchuk, Tako acts like a personal assistant helping you discover new content on the platform. Or in his own words: “If I’m watching food videos and ask for a recipe, I’ll get related TikTok videos for the recipe, or if I ask for good art exhibitions in Paris, it’ll show videos alongside a list of suggestions in the answer”. This will truly revolutionize the platform making it much easier to find relevant videos.

How to use TikTok’s Tako

From early release screenshots, it seems as though Tako will fit nicely along the right-hand bar on the TikTok interface, just above your profile icon. Thanks to a few users sharing their sneak peeks, it looks as though Tako will embody a ghost. Similar to other AI chatbots, like ChatGPT, you can chat with Tako asking the AI any question on any topic. It should then respond to you in a conversational manner recommending videos that match your prompt.
