Ryzen 9 7950X specs

The Ryzen 9 7950X is the most powerful out of the entire Zen 4 lineup, with its 16-core (32 threads) design. There’s a real push towards pushing the silicon to its limits here with a boost clock of up to 5.7 GHz and a 170W TDP. That amount of power is going to require one of the best CPU coolers, so be sure you’ve got an adequate AIO or air cooler in mind before purchasing.

As with all Ryzen 7000 series CPUs, the flagship model is for AM5 motherboards. This means you’ll need to invest in a new board if you’re an existing AM4 socket user. What’s more, the latest AMD processors work exclusively with DDR5 RAM, so you’ll a stick or two of compatible memory as well.

Ryzen 9 7950X performance

While we haven’t seen the Ryzen 7950X in action, we have had the benchmarks for what the upper end of Zen 4 can do. It should go without saying, but the latest market-leading processor from AMD absolutely decimates anything the company built on 7nm two years ago.

We don’t currently know how the processor generation will stack up against Intel Raptor Lake, but one thing’s for sure, AMD has delivered massively with leading single-core and multi-threaded performance. The top-end of the spectrum is ideal for anyone wanting intensive gaming sessions, and maximum performance for productivity.
